Jadon Sancho ready to sit out at Manchester United

Manchester United are struggling to move on a number of players they no longer see as part of their plans, and Jadon Sancho’s situation is becoming one of the more difficult ones to resolve.

Sancho joined United in the summer of 2021 but has never really found his footing at Old Trafford. Lacking both form and determination, he has been widely labelled as one of the club’s most disappointing signings, even in a crowded field.

There are three weeks left before the transfer window closes, and Sancho still hasn’t found a new club. It’s starting to look less likely that anything will happen before the deadline.

Latest on Jadon Sancho’s situation

Jadon Sancho has been left out of Manchester United’s pre-season plans this time around, with the club taking a firmer stance compared to a year ago.

Last summer, United included him in their tour despite his earlier issues. He ended up missing the decisive penalty in the Community Shield and didn’t manage to secure a permanent move away from Old Trafford.

Sancho later went on loan to Chelsea, but that deal never turned into a full transfer. Chelsea reportedly paid £5 million just to avoid triggering the £25 million purchase option, as Sancho wasn’t willing to take a pay cut.

He’s now part of a group of players who have been kept away from first-team training, including Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Antony. Marcus Rashford is the only one from that group who has found a move so far, joining Barcelona on loan.

United In Focus have been told by transfer insider Graeme Bailey that Jadon Sancho is prepared to sit out and continue collecting his wage if he doesn’t get the move he wants this summer.

Sancho has been linked with moves to Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, but any deal would require United to cover a significant portion of his wages.

“Jadon Sancho has made it clear that he will only move on his terms. We saw him rejected a wage drop to join Chelsea and a Napoli chance passed him by for similar reasons,” said Bailey.

“Juventus believe they are close and once Nico Gonzalez is sold that deal will become more likely, but United are going to have to pay, be it for loan or permanent. Then there is Dortmund, who Sancho has also been talking to,” added Bailey.

“If he wanted to move back Germany then again that would cost United. As it stands United say they have dropped his price and are not going go massively subsidise his move. The message we are getting is that Sancho has made it clear to United that he is prepared not play until January or beyond unless he gets what he wants.”

Man Utd’s ‘bomb squad’ causing major transfer market stalemate

Jadon Sancho might be taking the most hardline stance, but he’s far from alone when it comes to players pushing for a way out of Manchester United.

The Premier League season is less than a week away, and United have yet to finalise a single permanent player sale this summer.

Alejandro Garnacho is pushing hard for the move Jadon Sancho turned down – a permanent switch to Chelsea – and seems completely set on making it happen.

Bailey explains that United haven’t been able to convince Chelsea to match their asking price for the winger.

“I am even told that Chelsea could be looking at £30 million, this is another problem for United. It’s going to be a complicated few weeks trying to move some of these players on.”

Antony has informed Manchester United that he only wants a move to Real Betis and isn’t interested in any other options right now.

Bailey adds: “United are being backed into a corner with their bomb squad at the moment.

“The problem is with them, Sancho, Garnacho and Antony, and we can include unofficial member Hojlund, all interested clubs know United want them out, and that they don’t want them at the club going into September.
