Marseille's Mason Greenwood reunites with ex-Man Utd team-mates Kobbie Mainoo
WHAT HAPPENED?
The Daily Mail reports that United academy alumnus Greenwood, Garner, and Mainoo were seen in training gear and with football boots at a council playing field in Manchester on Tuesday. This is despite Greenwood now playing at Marseille and Garner starring for Everton, while Mainoo is still at the Red Devils.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
All three are, arguably, success stories of United's academy, but in different ways. Greenwood is impressing at French giants Marseille after leaving Old Trafford last year, Garner - who was in the forward's age group at the Red Devils - is proving his worth at Everton after struggling to make the grade at United, and Mainoo is already an England international at 19. For all of United's troubles, their academy can still produce top talent.
DID YOU KNOW?
This is not the first time Greenwood has been in training with a former United team-mate, as last week the 23-year-old was seen with Macclesfield ace D’Mani Mellor. The two United graduates have been working on the new 3G pitch that has been installed at Chadderton FC - a North West Counties Football League Premier Division side that are based in Oldham.
WHAT NEXT?
Greenwood, who scored 21 league goals for Marseille in his debut campaign, has been linked with a move away from the Ligue 1 side, so it remains to be seen if he will still be with Roberto De Zerbi's men come next season.
