Man Utd set for fourth summer transfer with 'agreement struck' for £17m arrival
Manchester United could bankroll their next summer transfer by shipping out Marcus Rashford on loan, with the deal already taking shape.
The 27-year-old is tipped to join Barcelona for a season-long loan with an option to buy next summer, finally realising his dream move after a prolonged spell in the wilderness after his bust-up with Ruben Amorim ended the homegrown star's Old Trafford career.
The La Liga titans are said to have agreed to foot some of the bill for Rashford's wages during his stint at the club, giving United a financial leg-up. The Times suggests Barcelona could even pay his salary in full, and by slashing the ex-No. 10's salary from the payroll, United could pocket up to £17million over the coming year, making it a win-win situation for all involved.
Amorim needs to offload players including the likes of Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho to finance further signings beyond Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon. The Portuguese boss reportedly has his sights set on a new striker, midfielder and goalkeeper before the summer transfer window slams shut on September 1, reports the Express.
Rashford's exit could spark an immediate pursuit for the latter, with Royal Antwerp's goalie Senne Lammens on United's radar. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have made preliminary enquiries with Antwerp about the terms for a potential agreement.
Lammens is believed to be one of the top choices Amorim is mulling over to bolster his goalkeeping squad, with Aston Villa's Emi Martinez also making the shortlist.
Following Friday's reports, United are said to be ramping up their interest in Lammens after his standout season in Belgium. The 23-year-old let in 32 goals in 30 league matches, keeping a clean sheet seven times.
He also made more saves (177) and stopped more goals (16.47) than any other goalkeeper globally, putting him on the radar of several clubs.
Antwerp reportedly value Lammens at around £17m, which could be a steal for what would be a long-term goalkeeper signing.
United have been tipped to enter the market since Andre Onana suffered a pre-season hamstring injury, which could keep him out for up to six weeks, with doubts still remaining over whether he has the quality to keep net for United.
Back-up option Altay Bayindir has rarely won over supporters when stepping in for the Cameroonian and could himself exit this summer if a suitable offer comes in.
Lammens has emerged as an opportunity, and the Belgium Under-21 international has previously expressed his keenness to make a move to the Premier League.
